In July 2022, Revolutionary Racing secured a license to build an American quarter horse “sprint racing” track and historical horse racing facility, provided the facility would be built and open by November 2023.
With only 18 months to perform services that would normally require several years, KCI was contracted to perform a rapid site investigation and MEP design necessary to transform a 75,000-square-foot abandoned retail store on the property into a world-class historical horse racing facility. After completing initial surveys and studies, our staff worked closely with the broader design-build team to design, permit, inspect, and ultimately deliver the state-of-the-art facility within the 18-month window.
The success of the project required daily collaboration with the architect, builder, client, and code officials. Using Procore and Autodesk’s BIM360 cloud platform, the team seamlessly coordinated design features with all trades, including installation contractors in near-real time, allowing for challenges to be overcome in impressively short time periods. Now complete, the fast-track initiative created over 200 permanent jobs and is anticipated to generate a large influx of tourism and tax revenue.
