The Tennessee Department of Transportation partnered with KCI to develop and implement an alternative fuel deployment plan for interstate corridor I-40 to support compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles (EV).
Through a year-long analysis funded by the Federal Highway Administration, KCI identified pre-existing EV and CNG stations. Our team then developed a deployment plan that recommended alternative fueling and charging stations every 50 miles, allowing for a variety of vehicles to use the highway in the future.
Now complete, the I-40 Alternative Fuel Corridor Deployment Plan not only supports increased investment in green energy technologies, but also serves as a guide for future implementation across the Southeast.
