KCI provided professional design and construction phase services for the upgrade of the Broadwater WRF Plant Control System.
The plant employed an Allen Bradley PLC system with a Rockwell RSView32 HMI SCADA system, which was a mix of two control generations with outdated hardware and software. The upgrades included installation of ControlLogix PLC hardware and a VTScada system. This new HMI software will be operated on a primary and secondary server arrangement with clients located at each PLC node, with managed network switches for Ethernet communications. While some Remote I/O remains due to close proximity to a main facility PLC, most have been replaced with ControlLogix PLCs. The proposed fiber optic communications network consists of a ring topology around the plant to provide fault tolerance.
