Built in 1907 to generate electric power, the Bloede Dam in Maryland became inoperable by 1927, posing risks and hindering natural river processes.
KCI led efforts to demolish and remove the structure, addressing long-standing safety hazards around the Patapsco River. Overcoming complexities such as historic preservation concerns, bedrock challenges, floods, and unpredictable river flows, our team successfully restored the area to its natural state and received multiple awards for our work. Today, the river boasts a free-flowing environment, providing recreational opportunities for the Baltimore metro area.
