KCI is pleased to welcome Brian Krul, PE, PTOE, to the firm as a practice leader for transportation design services across Western Pennsylvania.
Bringing a wealth of expertise to KCI, he will dedicate his efforts to strengthening and expanding KCI’s presence within the regional transportation market, working to identify new opportunities, cultivate key partnerships and relationships, and enhance the firm’s visibility and impact across the industry.
With nearly three decades of experience, Krul has led a wide range of impactful projects including major infrastructure improvements for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and local municipalities. Renowned as a respected leader in the local transportation industry, his specialties include roadway and bridge design, multimodal transportation, and traffic operations. His portfolio includes diverse projects such as the historic cast iron Dunlap Creek Bridge and West Newton Bridge rehabilitation in southwest PA, the I-79 reconstruction in Allegheny County, the Turnpike’s Allegheny Valley interchange, the Kahkwa Bridge replacement in the City of Erie, and the VOPP Multimodal Trail.

Krul has a bachelor’s in civil and environmental engineering from West Virginia University and a master’s in civil engineering with a specialization in transportation from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a registered professional engineer in six states and holds a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification. Throughout his career, Krul has received numerous accolades for his professional achievements, including the PA Engineer of the Year Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers, the L.W. Hornfleck Award of Excellence from the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, and the President’s Award of Excellence from the American Society of Highway Engineers.
