KCI is pleased to welcome Michael Izzo, PE, back to the firm as a transportation regional practice leader out of the Sparks office.
In this role, he will oversee leadership initiatives across the Mid-Atlantic transportation division including business development, staff engagement, financial management, technical delivery, and strategic growth efforts.
Izzo first joined KCI in 2004, beginning his career with the firm as a structural engineer. While in this position, he garnered experience performing bridge design and inspections for numerous clients, including the Maryland State Highway Administration, the Maryland Transportation Authority, the Maryland Transit Administration, and various counties throughout the state. Pursuing other opportunities for professional development, he advanced his career through a variety of industry roles over the next 16 years, overseeing an extensive portfolio of transportation initiatives. In his most recent position as Senior Vice President for TranSystems Corporation, Izzo oversaw a team of approximately 175 employees, guiding a diverse range of services. His leadership spanned highway, bridge, and traffic engineering, as well as water resources, land development, and building/facility architecture and engineering. He also managed teams specializing in marine and industrial processing, construction management and inspection, surveying, and GIS services.

Izzo earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore/Towson University. Additionally, he is a licensed PE in multiple states and serves as the secretary for the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) Maryland chapter, as well as participating as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association (MTBMA), and American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA).
