In 2020, KCI Communications Infrastructure opened a state-of-the-art technology center in White Marsh, Maryland.
At the 50,000-square-foot facility, our staff manages the receipt, assembly and distribution of wireless infrastructure, including small cell equipment and all types of smart city and ITS devices.
“The technology center and nearby yard are game changers for us in the Mid-Atlantic. This allows us to provide true turn-key services for a range of communications infrastructure projects from conceptual design through final construction including all phases of permitting.”
– D. Scott Riddle, Executive Vice President, Utilities Market Leader
In White Marsh, equipment is tracked from receipt to installation. A mobile application provides real time monitoring of inventory, quality and logistic issues. The process documents availability and condition to ensure that shortages are properly addressed.
The controlled environment of the center creates efficiencies and produces an extremely high level of quality control that ensures the successful execution of clients’ projects. Once assembled and installed, all equipment is thoroughly tested prior to delivery in the field.
KCI’s rigorous tracking and quality control techniques at the center have eliminated many of the obstacles that are commonly encountered during small cell assembly in the field.
A few miles away, a yard houses the organization’s fleet of construction vehicles, trucks and vans as well as other equipment such as mobile cellular trailers.
KCI Communications Infrastructure has experienced exponential growth over the last half decade and is now split into numerous geographic and technical practices focused on outside plant (OSP), small cell, wireless/IHUT, and structured cabling. Clients range from national and regional carriers to municipalities, manufacturers, and hospital systems. Offices, warehouses and yards are strategically located in Maryland, Virginia and Florida to support work across the eastern seaboard.
